Membership shall be open to all Sinhalese of either sex and of any religious denomination and to persons who qualify as Associate, or Honorary members falling within the prescribed age limits and who are normally residing in Malaysia.

Every application for membership shall be proposed and seconded by two existing ordinary or life members of the Association on the prescribed form and shall be forwarded to the Honorary Secretary who shall at the first convenient opportunity, shall submit it to the Council of Management for approval.  The Council of Management may at its discretion reject any application without assigning any reason thereof.

Every applicant whose application has been approved as aforesaid shall upon payment of the prescribed entrance fee and first annual subscription or lump sum payment, where applicable as the case may be in accordance with Rule 6, be admitted as a member of the Association and shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of membership

The membership of the Association shall consist of Ordinary, Life, Associate, & Honorary members.

Ordinary & Life Members, who shall be 18 years of age and above, shall take an active part in all affairs of the Association and shall be eligible to vote and to be voted into office of the Council of Management of the Association.

Associate members who shall be 18 years of age and above being either an expatriate Sinhalese or a non-Sinhala spouse of a member of the Association, or a child of a marriage between a non-Sinhala father and a Sinhala mother, shall enjoy all privileges of the Association but shall not be eligible to vote and shall not hold office in the Council of Management of the Association.

To give Honorary membership status to esteemed Malaysian and Sri Lanka personages and subject to the approval of the Council of Management, who shall enjoy all privileges of the Association but shall not be eligible to vote and shall not hold office in the Council of Management of the Association
