Language Classes

The Association in coloration with the Sasana Abhiwurdhi Wardhana Society (SAWS) of the Buddhist Maha Vihara conducts Sinhala Language Classes for young children every Sundays

The Sinhala Language Class conducted at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields focus on practical conversation skills, grammar and vocabulary. This allows the student to gain the confidence needed to communicate effectively in Sinhala.  The interactive lessons designed by the teacher makes learning enjoyable and efficient, allowing the students to progress at their own pace.

The classes are designed for learner of all levels, from beginners to advance speakers by providing a flexible and engaging learning experience and are conducted on every Sunday, from 2.00 pm till 3.00 pm by Mrs. Dayani Hemadasa on a voluntary basis and the class is conducted free of charge.

Sinhala Cultural Dance Troupe

The SAWS Sinhala Cultural Dance Troupe also holds regular training sessions on Sunday’s from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm also conducted by Mrs. Dayani Hemadasa. The troupe is managed by the Sinhala Cultural Troupe Management Sub-Committee chaired by Mr. A Hemadasa.

The Troupe currently consists of only female students, however, when the requirement arises, ex male students to participate to ensure that the troupe is able to give a glimpse of the Sri Lankan flavor to the audience.
